Who inspires/inspired you?
John Maxwell states, “Leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less.” So many people look at leadership as a title and not as influence. If you are a person who influences people, you are a leader. When I was deep in thought about this simple explanation of leadership over the weekend, I ended up being brought back to some fond memories of a few key influential women in my life.
As a young woman, I was in desperate need of a positive role model, someone to influence my life in a transformational way. There are a few very special women who stepped up to the role. They were like big sisters to me. They loved me when I needed to be loved the most. They pushed me when I needed pushing. They never gave up on me, no matter how difficult I was. When I think back to these influential women, I am eternally grateful for their presence in my life. There is not one doubt in my mind that I would not be the strong woman I am today if we had not crossed paths.
Today, I also have some amazingly influential people in my life. I am drawn towards strong, amazing and talented people. I am appreciative of their role in my life. They continue to help me stay positive during trying times, inspire me to become a better person and influence me with the incredible things they do every day. The inspirational people who are in my life today have also played a big role in shaping me into the person I am today. I always try to make sure that I let these people know how much I appreciate them and how much they are influencing my life.
Who are you inspiring? How do you influence people? Are you being a role model for anyone? You never know who is looking up to you. Look around you. You could be turning away from someone who looks to you for inspiration. Who is your role model? How are you learning from them? Do they know how much they are helping you? Take a moment to tell them how much they are helping you.
